Why I want to represent the 17th Legislative District

Dear Voter:

I’m concerned about the state of the economy and the people of this District. When working people can't afford the high cost of food, gas, housing, and health care, something must be done about it. People who work hard should not have to struggle to make ends meet. This is unacceptable, and I will work to change it.

As an economist, I understand that the key to economic growth and security is to invest in our community. We need to provide quality education, job training, affordable housing and health care, and energy independence. My opponent in the state legislature voted “no” on these policies.  I’m going to vote “yes”.

Conservative ideology doesn’t work. Investing in people does. People who are struggling or experiencing hardship represent lost talent and energy, and their loss affects us all. In the end, what’s good for people is good for the economy.

I believe in the power of the human spirit. Each of us has unique talents, knowledge, and experience to share and contribute to the common good. Everyone deserves the opportunity to achieve their dreams. We need to provide the opportunities and resources that can turn dreams into reality. So much can be accomplished when people come together to make the world a better place. As your State Senator I will find ways to support these efforts.

We deserve a government of, by, and for the people- not special interest groups and lobbyists. Voters have a right and a civic duty to give their input and help make the decisions that affect them. That's why my campaign has been financed entirely by individuals like you.

Citizens of the 17th Legislative District deserve to be better represented. As your Senator, I will seek your input and listen to your views. I will be a pragmatic leader and work on legislation that addresses the issues you care about.

You know the kind of change we need. That change is within reach in this election. I’m going to do my part by serving in the State Senate- but I’ll need your full support to get there.
